Condensate is present and collected in all compressed air systems. It’s simply unavoidable and a result of compressing atmospheric air. As the hot compressed air begins to cool during the treatment process, water vapor condenses into a liquid. Sixty percent of all condensate is produced in the air compressors after cooler and the remaining amount in the air receiver, air dryer and filtration. If this large amount of collected condensate remains in the air system, it will get re-entrained back into the compressed air stream and cause downstream corrosion problems, spoiled product and costly downtime.
